A worn-out roof is one of those things you can ignore for a while - until you really can't. Water stains on ceilings, shingles curling at the edges, granules washing into the gutters. At that point, a patch job isn't going to cut it. This Clarksville homeowner needed a full replacement, and that's exactly what we delivered.
Here's how we approached it. First, everything came off - old shingles, damaged underlayment, all of it. Once we got down to bare decking, we could see exactly what we were working with. Fresh OSB sheathing went in wherever it was needed, giving us a clean, solid base to build on. No shortcuts, no covering up problems.
From there, we rolled out Storm Gear synthetic underlayment across the entire deck before a single shingle went down. That underlayment matters more than most people realize. It acts as a secondary moisture barrier - so even if a shingle ever takes a hit, water isn't getting into the structure underneath. Then came the GAF Timberline HDZ shingles. These are a Class 4 impact-rated shingle, which is a big deal for homeowners in Middle Tennessee where hail and windstorms are a regular part of life.
We staged the shingle bundles across the ridge as we worked each section - you can see that process across multiple roof planes on this house. The layout wasn't simple either. This home has a multi-plane roof with several valleys, hips, and a connected garage section, all of which require careful attention to how shingles are cut and overlapped. We also installed proper roof vents throughout to make sure the attic system breathes the way it should.
The finished product speaks for itself. Clean charcoal gray shingles, tight ridge line, properly flashed edges, and a roof system built to handle whatever Clarksville weather throws at it. This is what a roof replacement done right looks like from the ground up.
