Two very different buildings. Two very different roof types. But the same core problem - water getting in where it shouldn't. We tackled both a residential metal roof installation and a commercial flat roof waterproofing job here in Clarksville, and both came with their own set of challenges worth walking through.
On the residential side, we worked on a character-filled home with a multi-gabled roofline. That kind of layout is tricky. All those intersecting angles mean more opportunities for water to find a weak spot. We laid down ABC Pro Guard 20 synthetic underlayment across the entire deck, then installed wood strapping before running the standing seam metal panels. That strapping layer matters - it creates a ventilation gap between the metal and the underlayment, which helps manage heat and moisture underneath the panels. The charcoal gray metal against that teal siding ended up looking sharp too.
On the commercial side, the flat roof areas were dealing with standing water and a beat-up surface that had clearly been patched and ignored for a long time. You could see the rust staining and deteriorated membrane before we started. The approach here was a full tear-off and rebuild - new decking, rigid insulation board, and a clean TPO/EPDM membrane install across the ledger sections. We also fabricated and installed new metal coping cap along the parapet walls to lock everything in and give it a finished, watertight edge.
Flat roofs on commercial buildings are one of those things that get ignored until there's water dripping on the inside. By the time you're mopping floors, the damage behind the walls and in the ceiling assembly has usually been building for a while. Catching it at the membrane level - before it becomes a structural issue - is always the smarter move. We take the rebuild seriously from the deck up, not just slap a new layer on top of the old problem.
Whether it's a steep residential roof with a complex layout or a flat commercial surface that needs a full system overhaul, the goal is the same - a roof that works the way it's supposed to for a long time. We do this kind of work all around the Clarksville area, and we're comfortable handling both sides of the roofing world.
